Doctoral student mobility outside the EU/EEA

LU currently has Erasmus+scholarships available for PhD students who want to spend some time at a selected partner university during 2026. You can gather materials, meet your co-supervisor or work on your thesis/a publication. You can also do a research internship. Course work is not possible. 

Important: The stay cannot start before late spring 2026 must be completed by 1 December 2026.

  • Botswana: University of Botswana
  • Canada: University of Toronto, McMaster University, University of British Columbia
  • Chile: Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Universidad de Chile, Universidad de Concepción
  • Ghana: University of Ghana
  • Hong Kong: The University of Hong Kong
  • India: Indian Institute of Technology Bombay
  • New Zealand: University of Auckland
  • Singapore: Nanyang Technological University
  • South Africa: University of Cape Town, Stellenbosch University
  • South Korea: Korea University, POSTECH, Seoul National University

The process consists of two steps

  1. Expression of interest through this form (including an invitation letter/confirmation from host). 
  2. Application for Erasmus+ scholarship: If you have been selected for funding, you will receive instructions on how to apply for the Erasmus+ scholarship.

 

Scholarship information

The Erasmus+ scholarship consists of two parts based on the duration of the stay:

  • Individual support
    • Long mobilities of 2–3 months: 700 euros per month 
    • Short mobilities of 5–30 days: 79 euros per day for the first 14 days, thereafter 56 euros per day
  • Travel grant: 1188 or 1735 euros, depending on the distance between Lund University and the host university. 

 

Mobility to partners in the United Kingdom and Switzerland

Applications for Erasmus+ funding to the United Kingdom and Switzerland are accepted on an ongoing basis through Lund University's Erasmus+database. No expression of interest through this form is required.

Mobility to Imperial College London, University College London, University of Oxford, University of Cambridge, The University of Edinburgh, University of Glasgow, ETH Zürich, University of Zürich, and Université de Genève is prioritised. Specific funding rules apply.
